Bengals Always Lose Game Of Inches

Postmortum from the Meadowlands

When it comes to near misses, a game of inches, just being a second away...The Bengals Have Written The Book. In fact, they continue to write the book on a game by game basis.

Final Score - Giants 26 - Bengals 23 OT

The Bengals played as hard as they could play today and still came up short and looked a bit silly before the game concluded. Not knowing what to do when attempting to drive for the winning TD, QB Carson Palmer had a case of vapor lock while trying to get his team lined up on a 3rd and 1 from the Giant 21 with 25 seconds remaining. The Bengals had 1 timeout remaining but were saving the timeout for a game tying field goal, if necessary. It is always necessary with the Bengals.

Needless to say, they burned through the precious time almost knowing a field goal was the best they could muster. When the did finally run a play, they threw 7 yards shy of the goal line only to come up 4 yards short of their biggest upset in ages. They settled for a game tying field goal and impending death was a coin flip away.

The Bengals may have won this game later in the year when the season elimination was again established, but when the outcome of the game could have injected new life into this hapless franchise, every Bengal fan new that the only victory they would feel is that of the Loser's variety, "A Moral Victory".

The march for 0-16 continues next weekend in the "City of Losers", Cincinnati.
